As Romney's chances of capturing the presidency slip away, the anti-Obama people are becoming more and more unhinged. Three people say their rabbis have recently delivered spittle-covered sermons denouncing the president based on "made up facts" "twisted innuendo" and "downright slander." And over on the Worst Blog in the World an op-ed written in the same demented vein has been published.
A thorough fisking after the jump:
The US presidential election race is in full swing, and undoubtedly, the issue of Israel will play a major role,
Undoubtedly? I'd estimate 90 percent of the electorate is entirely indifferent to Israel and its troubles.
especially with the growing Iranian threat, a threat that is existential according to many experts. Nonetheless, the White House and US Department of State remain firm in their assessment, rejecting Israeli intelligence reports calling for an attack against Iran to halt its nuclear program, an attack that at the very least will set back Iranian nuclear aspirations for a number of years. Nonetheless, President Barak Obama remains confident that Iran is still at least a year away from building an atom bomb.
Neither the White House nor the State Department has taken an attack off the table. To the contrary, both say Iran will be attacked if necessary. Its also not true that Israeli intelligence believes Iran must be attacked now. The only member of the Israeli intelligence community that has gone on the record, so far as I can tell, is Meir Dagan, former boss of the Mossad. He is emphatically AGAINST attacking Iran, and has criticized Netanyahu's warmongering in public. And anyway, is American intelligence made out of chopped liver? What about their assessments?
America remains Israel’s staunchest ally, but it must be realized that the president is not a friend of Israel.
Bee Ess. Is it possible to falsify the claim that Obama isn't Israel's friend? What would it take to convince you otherwise? A typical Obama hater tries to justify his hatred by pointing to the snubs which didn't happen, or by bitching about a visit to Israel that still hasn't been made, or by complaining that Obama hasn't stood up for Israel's right to defend herself (he has). The haters never seem able to point to something substantial. There's no quote, or cut program, or quantifiable back stab so instead they rely on innuendo. And because their hatred is irrational, this absence of evidence doesn't phase them nor does the correcting their factual errors produce a change in their opinions. Its the very definition of madness.
He has snubbed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on more than one occasion
Double Bee Ess. He's never snubbed Netanyahu -- anyway has it occurred to you perhaps that the Israeli Prime Minister might deserve an occasional snubbing? Just who is the super power here? Given Netanyahu's petulant, disrespectful, loudmouthed, public behavior, Obama has been extremely forgiving and extremely generous.
and it is clear that his priorities are quite different than his predecessors.
Actually, the opposite it what's clear. Obama's policies have marched in lockstep with his predecessors. He hasn't gone beyond Bush's two-state solution. He hasn't modified Bush's call for a retreat to the 67 borders. And he's virtually echoed Bush's position on settlements. On Israel, I see little to no daylight between Obama and his predecessor.
The White House has not hosted such an anti-Israel president since the days of Jimmy Carter, an outspoken enemy of Israel and the Jewish People as well as an outspoken advocate for the Palestine Authority.
This is just crazy talk. When he was president Carter brokered the Camp David accords, which may have been one of the top ten best things ever to happen to Israel. While he was president he never criticized Israel, and he certainly didn't advocate for the Palestenian Authority, which didn't exist in his day.
Realizing how anti-Israel the president has been in his first term,
Let's pause to point out the no evidence of anti-Israel behavior has been presented. Perhaps because no such evidence exists?
one can only shudder to think what a second term would bring for Israel and the Jewish People.
Baseless fear-mongering. You haven't shown us that Obama was bad for Israel or the Jewish people during his first term, so what supports your claim that he has something worse waiting for us after his re-election? This piece's logic is as bad as the writing.
This in addition to what his administration has done to increase the US debt, reaching unprecedented numbers, bringing the United States to position that it is at the mercy of China.
The debt crises was created by Republican policies --the very policies the US will go back to should Romney win the election. More here
For the sake of the United States and Israel we mustn’t make the same mistake twice.
