ADJUST YOUR MONITOR

If you can't read DovBear easily, your monitor needs adjusting. On my screen (and others) the words are all perfectly clear.

If enought of you, though, are having this problem (and are unwilling or unable to fix your monitors) tell me and I will go to the considerable bother and expense of learning HTML, and changing my template.

To edit your current template to change the color, you need to know html. (Or you can email blogger, and they will advise you how to change the code.)

But more simply, under "template," the first column is "edit current," which requires fiddling with html, but the column right next to that is headed "pick new." You can just hit "pick new" and change the template and be done with it.

You seem very testy. This was just a friendly tip. You sound like someone is attacking your personal taste and stuff. If you really like this color scheme, by all means stick with it. i just guessed that you picked this template almost at random, and didn't realize its downside.

I'd hate to buy you a tie.

BTW, one of the main reasons new websites fail is that they jazz them up too much. They think that if they put in lots of bells and whistles they will attract young, hip viewers, but they drive away anyone who doesn't want to wait for a slow download, etc.

Sites have lots of competition a click away. The more user-friendly and easy on the eyes and fingertips the better.

Simple marketing rules.

I didn't mean to be obnoxious (although you were being very obnoxious to miriam and are really whining a little much about other blogs).
I'm just saying, it seems to me, in my humble considered opinion, that your color scheme/template should be changed, and I'd bet that would drive up traffic.

That's my recommendation to you, and It is a simple one, and now I'm done with giving you friendly tips.

If you do change your color scheme and folks like it better, by all means, feel free to kvetch about the idiots who don't adjust their monitors and thus pass up genius.

Love,
anonymous tipster

A nice white interface is always cool to read. ;)

Anonymous is all the same person, I can tell.

The problem he describes is unique to his own monitor. Probably a 10 year old behemoth. On my newer, better, monitor DovBear is a pleasure to read.

If others are having the same trouble, though, I will fiddle with my template.

But you have to let me know.

Of course I'm one person. No this isn't an old monitor. Dark backgrounds are hard on the eyes no matter how crip the picture.

You are suuuuuuuuuch a baby, it's hopeless.

Content, it is always about content. If you use good content the readers will hang out unless it is incredibly difficult to read.

There are interfaces that are easier on the eye, but this is not so bad. I blog from three different computers and have seen this on all three.

Dear Anonymous, If you're going to be a pushy, whiny bitchette, do what Dov did and get your own damn blog.

If you can't read the site GET LOST! We won't miss you.

If you can read it, shut up and enjoy.

I have been reading Dov from almost the very begining. His content is first rate (as you say Jack) and I like the white on green. It's different.

hey guys if dovie is going to whine and kvetch about other more popular bloggers, he shouldn't also whine and kvetch at the first, practical suggestion for increasing traffic - a suggestion, let me point out, that isn't critical of his blogging style or the content on his site. I didn't say that *I* am not reading the site for this reason. Just that this sort of thing drives away readers. It is amazing to me that this inspires this outrage from all of you, that dovie himself is so defensive. It's not as though dovie lovingly designed this template himself. He probably just chose the first one that grabbed his eye - there was no personal criticism here, just a practical suggestion.

Who is more popular that DovBear? He's been blogging for 4 weeks and his counter reads 4500 hits. That's awsome. You suck anonymous jackfreak. Go find a nose to pick and leave us alone.
