Here we go again with another second term scandle.

The curse is on.

President Bush's aides threw up a wall yesterday when questioned about revelations that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove had discussed CIA official Valerie Plame with a reporter despite past White House assertions that he was not involved in her unmasking.

Will we be treated to the spectacle of Bush's Brain being frog-marched out of the White House in handcuffs? One can only hope. But in the meantime, let's chat for a bit about second term curses.

Have you noticed that second term presidents have trouble keeping their noses clean? Bill Clinton had Monica (Bimbroglio, as TNR called it). Ronald Reagan endured the Iran-contra scandal. (Iran-a-mok) And Richard Nixon had Watergate.

Of course, the difference is that Reagen and Nixon subverted the Constitution and Rove appears to have gone all Luca Brasi on poor Valarie Palme.

All Clinton wanted was a little kiss.
