Is Hezbollah a Terrorist Organization?

Guess who failed to sign the US Senate's bipartisan letter calling on the European Union (EU) to add Hezbollah to its list of terrorist organizations?

Ten Republicans, and two Democrats.

These are the names of the ten Republicans who think it's fine that the EU considers Hezbollah to be a legitimate organization:

Richard Lugar (R-IN) Chairman, Senate Foreign Relations Committee
John Warner (R-VA) Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee
Chuck Hagel (R-NE)
Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
Lincoln Chafee (R-RI)
Tom Coburn (R-OK)
Larry Craig (R-ID)
Pete Domenici (R-NM)
Michael Enzi (R-WY)
Judd Gregg (R-NH).

On July 21, 12 House Democrats (less than 10 percent of the House membership) neglected to sign a resolution condeming the attacks on Israel. I called them "fringe lowlifes," and made it perfectly clear that those 12 people did not represent that mainstream of the Democratic party. (And I feel the same way about the two Senators who did nt sign today's letter)

Now that 10 Senate Republicans (more than 20 percent of the Senate membership) have implicitly stated that they do not consider Hezbollah to be a terrorist organization, I expect good GOP Jews like Ezzie, and CWY add, yes, even Richard Avrech, to denounce them using the same sort of language I employed on July 21.

Fun fact to know and tell: Rep. John Dingel (the man the RW cheerfully slandered as a pro-Hezbollah fanatic via the use of an edited sound clip) signed the House's version of the same letter. (scroll down to #94)
