A federal district court in Detroit has ruled that the Bush administration’s NSA warrantless wiretapping program is unconstitutional and ordered an immediate halt to it.
Awsome, positivly awsome, but unfortunately, I expect this blessing is mixed.
Why? Only because the wingnuts are going to use this opportunity to moan and groan about the damn activist judges who stick their noses in where it doesn't belong. As we speak, Ann Coulter is writing up her fatwah against the judges who made the majority decision, and Dick Cheney is preparing to tell America that Osama bin Ladin did the dance of joy and handed out candies when the ruling was announced. I bet Bush even makes a speech about it, with this expected sound bite: "But, but, but what about the war on terra? How will we ever catch all the terrarists unless we treat everyone as a suspect? Huh? Answer me that, will ya? Hehehehehe."
But meantime I'm savoring this victory. God bless America and God bless the Bill of Rights.
