There is no known recorded history showing exactly how or when the Vatican acquired the writings [of Maimonides.]So let's speculate irresponsibly, shall we? Do you think:
(a) the documents were purchased lawfully;
(b) the documets were stolen;
(c) the documents were stolem amid raping and pillaging and shul burning; or
(d) some poor rabbi was tortured until he agreed to hand them over, (amid raping and pillaging and shul burning?)
PS: I have just finished "The Popes Against the Jews: The Vatican's Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism" and I am in a viscious mood.
