My friend the former Godol Hador has a post up about some little known Rambam teachings which aren't accorded quite the same level of respect as his famous ikkarim. For instance, the Rambam thought Hebrew developed contingently. He also disbelieved in magic and said that many episodes presented by the bible as historical fact were really dreams experienced by the episode's protaganist. [Paging Bobby Ewing]
Is any of this accepted by the average Orthodox Jew? NO! So riddle me this: Why is it impossible for an OJ to DISAGREE with the Rambam about the incorporeal God, while simultaneously being impossible for him to AGREE with the Rambam on demons or magic?
