A Guest Post by Rafi G
An incident happened the other day in Kfar Saba that is very similar to an ancient story we are all familiar with.
A 44 year old man was acting strangely with his 10 year old son, his roommate noticed, and eventually took the boy to the second story window and planned to toss him out. The roommate intervened and prevented the boy from coming to any harm.
When the police came, the father told them that he did it because God came to him and told him to throw his son out the window. (source: ynet)
This story reminds me of the Akeidat Yitzchak. Avraham received a visit from God telling him to sacrifice his son. He planned on doing so when an angel intervened (upon God's command).
Is this a modern day version of Abraham and the Akeida? is there room for such an occurrence nowadays? Why is it ok to have happened 4000 years ago but not today? Or is the guy just crazy? (I dont really doubt the answer, just am amused by the similarity)
