Robert Averich thinks its awful that People Magazine called Anthony Weiner a "brash New York Jew" in the same article in which his wife, Huma, is referred to as "refined Muslim" He calls this "fashionable antisemitism." Unlike Robert, I don't subscribe to trashy magazines like People, and the article isn't online, so I can't decide for myself. But I agree that in some contexts its unkind to call a Jew brash.
Weiner is certainly brash, (and I mean that in a good way) and he's certainly a New York Jew, but using such words together is at least a misdemeanor against good taste. I wouldn't call it "antisemitism" on the grounds that trumped up charges of antisemitism make people less likely to pay attention to legitimate antisemitism (See: Wolf, Boy Who Cried) but that's just me.
Unfortunately Robert's post ends on a low note with the author indulging in the very sort of behavior his post decries. Here he goes:
a: Nice people never marry jerks
b: Weiner is a jerk; therefore
c: Huma isn't a nice person
This is specious enough, but you make it worse by leaping from "Huma isn't a nice person" to endorsing a crazy-ass article that claims Huma is an anti-American mole and Hillary's lover. (and of course, per you, if Huma actually is a nice person, the marriage must be a sham because no nice person would go against her faith to marry Anthony Weiner. So either way you slice it she hates America and had sex with Hillary Clinton.)
Once you toss reality out the window, and tighten your tin foil hat, the whole thing makes PERFECT sense!

There are some questions about Mrs. Weiner that People has not addressed:
1. How did this “refined” and pious Muslim marry a “brash New York Jew?” It makes no sense. Pious Muslims only marry Muslims.Perhaps "t makes no sense" because you are in the grips of stereotypical view of Muslims. Where is it written that refined Muslims never marry non-Muslims? In your own personal book of Islamic rules? Sure, Sharia prohibits intermarriage, but so does Halacha, and plenty of perfectly refined Jewish women marry non-Jews. Are you really so limited in the imagination department, Robert, that you can't conceive of a refined and sincere believer marrying someone of another faith? It happens all the time.
See Front Page for an eye-opening discussion of this mystery.I went to Front Page, and what I saw was the allegation that the Wiener's marriage is a sham, manufactured by the Clintons, to (1) conceal the fact that Hillary Clinton and Huma were lesbian lovers. and/or (2) to give evil Huma and her nasty Islamic relatives the opportunity to fulfill the Clinton's long standing desire to destroy America. Yes indeed, Robert. The discussion at Front Page is "eye-opening" but only because of what it tells us about its endorser.
2. Okay, maybe Anthony Weiner is so devastatingly charming and handsome that Huma couldn’t resist. I mean, just dig into his Tweets to porn star Ginger Lee—how come there are never porn actresses, just porn stars?—and you can see what a class act is The Weiner, obviously perfect marriage material for a pious Muslim. This is not a question. Its an attempt to cast aspersions on the legitimacy of the Weiner's marriage, that only works if you presume that nice people never marry jerks. Really, this is your whole argument in a nutshell:
a: Nice people never marry jerks
b: Weiner is a jerk; therefore
c: Huma isn't a nice person
This is specious enough, but you make it worse by leaping from "Huma isn't a nice person" to endorsing a crazy-ass article that claims Huma is an anti-American mole and Hillary's lover. (and of course, per you, if Huma actually is a nice person, the marriage must be a sham because no nice person would go against her faith to marry Anthony Weiner. 3. But what about Huma Abedin’s family who are all Islamists with strong ties to, get this, the Muslim Brotherhood? Did they actually give their daughter the okay to marry an infidel?Um. Who cares? I'm not convinced that Huma's family are "all" card carrying Islamists and members of the Muslim Brotherhood (Proof, please? Or is that too much trouble?) But, even if they are, Huma would hardly be the first religiously-raised girl to marry against her family's wishes. Are we now the sort of people who distrust others based on the behavior of their relatives? I hope not.
4. My friend Rob Miller of Joshua Pundit analyzes the backstory of the Weinergate scandal and reasonably asks: Did Anthony Weiner secretly convert to Islam?I agree its reasonable to ask if Wiener converted to Islam. I also don't care. Suppose he did. What follows from that?
And is Huma Abedin Weiner, current Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and a long time member of Hillary’s Pants Suit Brigade, an Islamist mole?Certainly, she is. Because the CIA and FBI are a bunch of Clinton-controlled incompetents, who were ordered, nay blackmailed, into ignoring the crescent tattoo on Huma's lower back, and her frequent long distance phone calls to Osama bin Ladin. If only brave bloggers like Rob Miller would get out of the way, the long-standing Clintonin dream of handing America over to the militant Islamists could be realized! Of course Hillary's right hand woman is not just an Islamist, but a refined, pious, lesbian(!) Islamist who would never of her own volition marry a Jew. Of course Hillary and her evil friends in Saudi Arabia manufactured the whole thing, and snuck it past the national security community, because of course the Clintons want to destroy America. Of course!
Once you toss reality out the window, and tighten your tin foil hat, the whole thing makes PERFECT sense!
5. These are questions that should, but won’t, receive wide coverage.#5 like #2 is also not a question. And perhaps the questions have not received wide coverage, because reasonable people are unwilling to get bogged down with nut-case conspiracy theories?
