Vienna gets its bible back
Bible That Vanished on Kristallnacht Is Heading Home: Its a Bomberg Bible from 1516, worth about $20K that was stolen from a library in Vienna during Kristallnacht. (Aside: Why does the headline say "on" Kristallnacht? The article itself uses "during" Kristallnacht. If the grammar of the title is correct, shouldn't it be "during the" Kristallnacht?) Anyway, the bible has been returned to Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien, some umbrella group, apparently, for Vienna’s Jewish community. [New York Times]
