Purim was perceived in a particular way by Jewish communities in the Mediterranean. The holiday symbolizes the unpredictability of the Divine intervention. Seemingly random, unexpected redemptions of various communities in Jewish history led to local celebrations echoing the joy--and theme-- of the redemption of Persian Jewry celebrated on Purim. The Six Day War meets this description. As such, why shouldn't the Jews of Israel celebrate their deliverance?
