Lots and lots of good, god-fearing, bloggers have been making the claim that the destruction of NOLA was just like the destruction of Gush Katif, and that therefore Important and Shocking Lessons must be learned.
The new fad among the dreamy-eyed bloggers is lists. Lots and lots of lists, that those holy, inspired bloggers are checking twice, purporting to show how NOLA and Gush Katif were so alike, they might have been the same place.
Now, of course, every word typed by those bloggers is correct and holy (how could they be wrong? They're all so spiritual and godly) but, remarkably, they've understated their case:
NOLA and Gaza were much more alike than anyone seems to realize.
Here are some of the remarkable similarities that have been overlooked:
** The obvious: Katrina and Katif are practically the same word!
** For 30 years the Jews of Gush Katif treated Arabs with contempt.
For 300 years the white people of NOLA treated black people with contempt.
** Plessy v. Furgeson, the case that established separate but equal as law, was originally a NOLA case (true!). Separate but less than equal was the order of the day in Gush Katif.
** Gush Katif was full of god-drunk people who heavily relied on government assistance. So was NOLA
** Gaza is a four letter word. Bush is a four letter word.
** Ariel Sharon was a decorated soldier. GWB was an AWOL coward (look at the signs! Could they BE any less alike??)
** Gush Katif was built with wood and stone and concrete and other materials
NOLA was built with wood and stone and concrete and other materials
** Gush Katif had people in it.
NOLA had people in it.
WOW. Aren't you convinced? I'm sure you'll be pleased to add your voice to the chorus of credulous fools currently praising the good work of those God-disgracing bloggers. In fact, let me congratulate them personally on their marvelous ability to avoid the BS and print just the really believable stuff. It's a great skill.
Hey! God-disgracing bloggers: For your next list, why don't you show us how all the devastated Southern coastlines in human history (and there are many!) were connected to Gush Katif. I know you can do it.
