We take it for granted here, that men don't work

Is it just assumed that Lakewood men don't work? In the letter reproduced above, you are asked to reach into your pocket and help the local poor, an endeavor this blog, of course, supports. What we do not support is the assumption, casually put forward in the section highlighted in grey, that every benei torah sponges off his inlaws or parents or allows his wife to bring home the family income.

Does this organization refuse to support families with male breadwinners that have fallen on hard times, or do they merely deny the existence of such families?
