To hell with the Jews

"Earlier today, reports began circulating across the globe that I have recently stated that Jews can go to heaven without being converted to Jesus Christ. This is categorically untrue."
- Jerry Falwell, posted on falwell.com, March 1, 2006.

Or, as Paul Krugman put it today:
...if you choose to make common cause with religious extremists, you are accepting some responsibility for their extremism. By welcoming Mr. Falwell and people like him as members of their party, Republicans are saying that it's O.K. — not necessarily correct, but O.K. - to declare.. that Jews can't go to heaven. And voters should judge the Republican Party accordingly.
