Tovel v'sheretz b'yodo*

Israel Singer, chairman of the World Jewish Congress, and a person who, therefore, isn't even slightly invested in the question [snort], claims in his fawning, squeaky voice that the pope has renounced anti-Semitism as a sin against God and man. He's further pleased to announce that the pope will be meeting his contingent.

Who the hell needs the Pope to meet with us? The pope is irrelevant. Even Catholics (who no longer go to church and no longer become priests and nuns) know this.

You sound like such a ghetto Jew, Israel Singer. Oooh the pope wants to meet with us. Ooooh the pope thinks we're equals. Please put your tounge back in your mouth, and show some pride.

Let the Church do as I suggested, and renounce it's own shameful past, before Jews go running to kiss the toes of St. Peter.

*A tovel v'sheretz b'yado is one who immerses himself in purifying waters while he holds in his hand an insect that makes him impure. Until the Vatican opens its archives on the Holocaust years, or revises its grudging, theology-tainted policy toward Israel, or repudiates the anti-Semitic popes (some of whom, the Vatican, instead, wishes to cannonize) John Paul is just that.
