ON THE SLIFKIN BAN

What conclusions - unhappy conclusions to be sure - should we draw about the Rabbis who signed the ban, on Rav Slifkin's books, and the soceity the adores those Rabbis?

I absolutely don't understand how Rabbis can ban a book they have not read, or label heretical books that rely heavily on the views of rishonim and achronim.

Were these gedolim from previous generations also heretics?

This is a big crisis of confidence for me. It suggests all sorts of unpleasent facts about our Jewish world.
